South Lake Cares Counseling will be offering a support group named “The Search for Significance,” which will focus on building self-worth on the unconditional love and forgiveness of Jesus. If you often feel unworthy of love, deserving of punishment, or that you constantly need other people’s approval; we invite you to come experience hope and healing in the safe and trusting environment of a support group.
What is a Support Group?
A support group offers the opportunity for open discussion where group members are able to share about their experiences and struggles with a particular subject. Additionally, members grow and learn from each other’s strategies and experiences. In this particular group, members will also work through the workbook “The Search For Significance” on their own throughout the week and use the meeting time to discuss open-ended questions brought forth by the group leaders. This is not a class, but rather an opportunity to share, unload some of our burdens, and support each other as we learn the material together.
The group will be led by Cesar Perez, LMFT and Daisy Taylor, LMHC and will meet for 9 weeks on Wednesday evenings (6:30pm-8:00pm) starting March 15th at the Church At South Lake’s Adventure Room (Building 2). The cost is only $60 which includes materials and light refreshments.
IMPORTANT: Support Groups can be a life-changing experience, so we want to make sure to protect everyone who comes ready to grow. In light of that, we ask that before you register, you evaluate if you are able to commit to the following expectations:
- Consistent attendance is very important regarding support groups. We would ask you to miss only if an emergency came up. For example: if you knew you were going to miss 3 to 4 times out of the 9, then please wait and sign up for a group in the future.
- Realize that this type of group requires a commitment to confidentiality for those who attend.
- The homework is minimal, but we would have expectations that you make every effort to complete it in between sessions.
