South Lake Aviation

South Lake Aviation is an aviation-based youth mentoring program. Our goal is to identify students who are struggling to overcome a challenge or difficult situation, pair them with an student who has excelled in those areas, and together allow them to pursue their private pilot license.

How It Works

Over the course of 18-24 months, the pair will complete our program that, in addition to their FAA approved flight training, will also include a variety of “life-skills” mentoring such as accountability in their education, exposure to a variety of career possibilities, financial budgeting, and much more. Each cohort will have a dedicated CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) serving as a mentor, a cohort “sponsor” from within our community, and the students learning to influence each other, creating an atmosphere of positive peer influence. A triangle of intention to show life can be exciting when you apply math, science and fun.
